children as:The process of protecting children from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment
of their health and development, and ensuring they are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and
effective care that enables children to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully.
Statement of intentLittle Lambs pre-school is committed to this wider view of safeguarding
and believe that children learn best when
they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive relationships with adults
caring for them.

Our aims are to: · Create an environment in our pre-school which encourages children to develop a positive
self image, regardless of race, language, religion, culture or home background · Help children to establish and sustain satisfying relationships within their families,
with peers and with other adults ·
Encourage children to develop a sense
of autonomy and independence; ·
Enable children to have self-confidence
and the vocabulary to resist inappropriate approaches. ·
Work with parents to build their
understanding of, and commitment to, the welfare of all our children
