The Government has defined the term ‘safeguarding children as:
The process of protecting children from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment of their health and development, and ensuring they are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care that enables children to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully.

 Statement of intentLittle Lambs pre-school is committed to this wider view of safeguarding and believe that children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive relationships with adults caring for them.

EYFS key themes and commitments.
We have designed our policies and procedures to meet the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and provide the necessary steps to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in our care.
Aims Our aims are to:
·         Create an environment in our pre-school which encourages children to develop a positive self image, regardless of race, language, religion, culture or home background
·         Help children to establish and sustain satisfying relationships within their families, with peers and with other adults
·         Encourage children to develop a sense of autonomy and independence;
·         Enable children to have self-confidence and the vocabulary to resist inappropriate approaches.
·         Work with parents to build their understanding of, and commitment to, the welfare of all our children
